Divock Origi suffered another injury and is not available for the game.
Stefano Pioli said in yesterday’s press conference that the moment had come for Origi to start and lead the attack.
However, the 27-year-old Belgian, who arrived on a free transfer this summer, is not available for the match tonight.
As reported by Milannews.it, Origi did not travel with the squad to Genoa. The reason is that he suffered from fatigue in his left thigh at the end of yesterday’s training session.
This leaves Pioli with only Olivier Giroud available in attack, since Zlatan Ibrahimović (knee), Ante Rebić (back) and Marko Lazetić (fatigue) are all unavailable too. Charles De Ketelaere can also play as a striker but this is a major blow for Pioli who was counting on Origi to play from the start today.
This is the second time Origi was supposed to start but then had to forfeit the game due to an injury as he also missed Sassuolo on Matchday 4.
Probable XI (4-2-3-1) – Stefano Pioli
Mike Maignan; Davide Calabria, Simon Kjær, Pierre Kalulu, Theo Hernández; Sandro Tonali, Tommaso Pobega; Junior Messias, Charles De Ketelaere, Rafael Leão; Olivier Giroud.
